There Are Two Ways to Appear Offline

- Uncheck the box next to “Online” next to your name.
- Now when you open that chat, your name will show as “Offline” even though you are online.
If You Want to Appear Offline to Everyone:
- Open WhatsApp and go to the Settings page.
- Tap Privacy > Offline Status.
- Uncheck the box next to “Show when You Were Last Seen”.
- Now, your name will show as “Offline” even though you are online.
Note: You will still be able to send messages even when you appear offline, but the other user won’t know when you were last seen.

Assuming you’ve already set up WhatsApp Web, to show offline on WhatsApp Web:

- A drop down menu will appear. From this menu, select “Settings.”
- In the Settings menu, scroll down until you see the “Offline” option.
- Click the check box next to “Offline.”
- Now, whenever you open WhatsApp Web, your contacts will not be able to see that you are online.
You can also set a custom status for yourself. To do this, follow the same instructions as above, but select “Custom Status” instead of “Offline.” From here you can type in your own custom status message.
Note: You can only show offline on WhatsApp Web if you have an active connection to the internet. If your internet connection stops, you will still appear online on WhatsApp Web.
Using Chrome Extension
In order to appear offline on WhatsApp, you will need to use a Chrome extension. There are many different extensions that you can use, but we recommend using the “WhatsApp Offline” extension. This extension will allow you to appear offline on WhatsApp without having to uninstall the app or root your device.
Once you have installed the “WhatsApp Offline” extension, open WhatsApp and go to the Settings menu. Tap on the “Account” option and then select “Privacy”. Scroll down to the bottom of the privacy settings and you will see an option called “Last Seen”. Tap on this option and select “Nobody” from the drop-down menu.
